As an integral part of the Lidcombe community since 1946, DOOLEYS’ vibrant culture celebrates a diverse range of backgrounds, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the local community.
DOOLEYS sits within a masterplan being developed by PTW. In the initial phase the club and administration form the core. With time residential, retail and senior’s living may be added to further expand and future proof the project as a self-contained development.
For the current phase, the diverse culture of the club has been reflected in the design response for the renovation and extensions where brickwork and finely detailed façade elements reinterpret the existing vernacular of Lidcombe.
The project will see a revitalised and extended two storey podium to re-activate the public realm. This textured and mostly permeable façade strongly connects with the pedestrian street frontage through a variety of food and beverage venues. The new Club areas feature renovated bars, bistros, café, kids play areas, members lounges, restaurants and other associated facilities including conferencing, members facilities, snooker rooms and a diversity of activity areas for diverse age groups.
Additional two storey commercial premises floats lightly above the club podium with separate entry and street address. This commercial roof top area includes a secluded break out space and landscape elements. Car parking will be extended in the basement car park levels which is accessed via the Board Street laneway. Total GFA for the existing and extended club is 14,884 square metres.
DOOLEYS, PTW and the consultant team worked closely with Cumberland Council to achieve the successful DA approval.
