Dougherty Apartments
The Dougherty Apartments supports the philosophy of ageing-in-place for its residents and therefore sought to upgrade its built environment to improve the quality of living and range of care opportunities. Dougherty Apartments are well located at Victor Street, Chatswood with convenient amenities to the Chatswood transport interchange and shopping precinct, immediately adjacent to the Dougherty Community Centre, with which it shares some facilities.
The Dougherty Apartments consists of 150 residential places comprising 42 resident funded one, two and three bedroom self-contained units, 42 publicly funded units and 66 independent living units. The aim was to upgrade the facilities to provide a contemporary quality of residential and staff amenity and care support.
A range of external recreation areas were developed to cater for lawn bowls, croquet practice greens, and provide BBQ areas of intimate external seating nooks for visitors and residents. Staff facilities were similarly improved with external recreation areas.
