Hurlstone Agricultural High School

The boarding facilities and the farm facilities at Hurlstone Agricultural High School, Glenfield are now complete. Hurlstone Agricultural High School is one of NSW’s four agricultural high schools. It is the state’s only selective co-education agricultural high school for both boarders and day students.

The school is located on a 157 hectare site in Glenfield, approximately 40km distance from the Sydney CBD and an eight minute walk from Glenfield station. The site is split into two halves by Roy Watts Road.

The boarding facilities upgrade has delivered:

  • two dormitory buildings
  • 180 bed student accommodation
  • dormitory monitor rooms
  • senior and junior common rooms
  • bathrooms and facilities
  • overnight accommodation for staff
  • permanent staff residences.

The new farm hub has delivered:

  • dairy shed and milking parlour
  • co-located learning space
  • calf, beef, pig and chicken sheds
  • commodity and storage sheds
  • new equipment
  • irrigation systems
  • relocation of sheep shed
  • expanded hydroponic facilities.

The project is a component of the new educational model for agriculture learning announced by the former Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning, the Hon. Sarah Mitchell in December 2019.

Further investment in state-wide agricultural education is underway at the Hawkesbury Centre of Excellence for Agricultural Education and Richmond High School for which PTW completed the masterplan and multi-purpose hall.
