‘The Landing’ Cumberland Newspaper Site

The design scheme features three mixed-use towers, a 60-storey residential tower along with an additional 35 level and a 25 level building hosting 964 residential apartments, commercial, various retail, restaurant and bar facilities, the option of a hotel and serviced apartment component of up to 150 rooms, and open spaces to create a vibrant epicentre for the community. It forms a dynamic new civic plaza, maximising views of the Parramatta River, particularly running east to the Sydney CBD and to the north across the river and of the Blue Mountains.

The public domain has been sculpted to allow the tallest residential tower to address the plaza directly.

The creation of a strong east-west link is a key driver. This will allow pedestrians in particular to walk directly through the site to the public reserve, while allowing the new hotel to address and activate the plaza directly.

The design is also built on an awareness of current public realm design thinking, which encourages serious activation of public spaces while still nurturing the fine-grained human scale of laneways and other more intimate external spaces.
